Cholera Through the Eyes of Survivors and the Affected

1.3-4 million people throughout the world are affected by Cholera each year. Of these people the ones who survive and their families and friends must all deal with the effects. Augustin, who's story was displayed in a unicef article, survived a Cholera epidemic in January of 2019. Augustin spent a full week in a cholera treatment center after first experiencing the symptoms in a taxi. He was released to return home from the center upon showing the signs of feeling better.

Despite the relatively smooth recover Cholera still hold heavy over his everyday actions: Depite not knowing when or how exactly he contracted the illness he has put a stronger importance on cleaner drinking water and environment. Cholera affects the families and friends of those who recover, but it can also have heavy effects on teh mental health of those who experienced a death due to the illness.

Grief can affect not only oneself but also their own friends and families, as well as potentialy resulting in the loss of economic stability.
